Overview
We’re seeking a skilled Senior Backend Engineer to lead our payment gateway’s security, compliance, and architecture at Digitally Drunk LLC, India. As a senior backend engineer, you will own the end-to-end work of taking our Spring Boot payment stack and making it secure, PCI-validated, and clean to integrate with.
Responsibilities
- Drive our PCI DSS v4.0.1 validation as a service provider — scope definition, remediation, the SAQ/assessment process, and keeping us compliant year-round.
- Harden how we store, process, and transmit cardholder data: encryption, tokenization, masking, and disciplined logging hygiene.
- Assess what needs to be done, prioritize it, and drive it to completion — coordinating with our acquirer, QSA, and scanning vendors as you go.
- Design and implement secure, auditable systems to solve high-stakes, ambiguous payment problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of the payment stack with other systems.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security and compliance standards, and apply that knowledge to continuously improve our payment gateway.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a senior backend engineer, preferably in the payments or finance industry.
- Strong expertise in Spring Boot and Java.
- Deep understanding of payment gateways, PCI DSS compliance, and security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams.
