About the Job
The Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform team is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join us in Bangalore, India. In this position, you will be part of the Red Hat Ansible Content team, a key area within Ansible that spans Red Hat’s diverse solution portfolio.
As an Associate Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include designing and developing the Ansible Content Collection. You will write tests for your content collection alongside development tasks. Your role will involve designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment that utilizes GitHub and peer review workflows, and solid computer science fundamentals will greatly benefit the team.
What Will You Do?
- Develop new Python features for Ansible Collections
- Submit patches for bug fixes and conduct peer reviews
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure the collection is tested in a production environment
- Participate in release processes
- Showcase the team’s work through Team Demos
What Will You Bring?
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ months of software development experience in Python
- Strong object-oriented software development skills
- Experience with unit and integration testing
- Willingness to learn about container and cloud technologies
- Practical experience with the Linux operating system, including Bash scripting
- Familiarity with various deployment models, such as cloud, virtualization, and containers
- Familiarity with GitHub or similar version control systems
- Passion for open-source technologies; experience with open-source communities is a plus
- Ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams
