Job Title: Graduate Engineer Trainee – Cyber Security
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Graduate Engineer Trainee in Cyber Security to assist our Cyber Engineering team in managing and supporting our security tools. This role requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment while delivering exceptional service. As a Cyber Security Intern, you will collaborate with experienced security professionals, contributing to various components of our enterprise security program.
Your responsibilities will include assisting with security monitoring, threat analysis, compliance activities, and implementing robust security measures across the organization. The ideal candidate can multitask, work independently, and contribute effectively in collaborative, sometimes remote, team settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) tools and other platforms for potential threats and suspicious activities.
- Assist with vulnerability scans and assessments, identifying security weaknesses, and suggesting mitigation strategies.
- Participate in investigations and analysis of security incidents, such as data breaches and malware infections.
- Contribute to the development and revision of cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.
- Stay informed on cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices and share insights with the team.
- Document findings from assessments, incident investigations, and research, maintaining logs and records.
- Support the creation and delivery of cybersecurity awareness training for employees.
- Assist in internal and external security audits, preparing reports based on findings.
- Basic knowledge of Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing processes and tools.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of core cybersecurity concepts, including firewalls, encryption, threat detection, and network security.
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking basics, and common security tools (e.g., antivirus, intrusion detection/prevention).
- A strong interest in cybersecurity, with a proactive attitude and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in team settings.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
- Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in cybersecurity or IT is advantageous.
Duration: 6 Months
Compensation: Stipend-based
