Overview

Launchdarkly is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead the teams behind its core platform. As a Director of Engineering, you will set technical direction across multiple engineering teams, grow a bench of strong managers and senior engineers, and ensure the systems in the critical path stay fast, reliable, and ready to scale.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction across multiple engineering teams to ensure the core platform is scalable, reliable, and fast.
• Grow a bench of strong managers and senior engineers to lead the teams behind the core platform.
• Ensure the systems in the critical path stay reliable, secure, and performant.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize engineering projects.
• Develop and manage the engineering budget to ensure effective use of resources.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve the core platform.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years of experience in a leadership role.
• Strong technical expertise in software development, with experience in languages such as Java, Python, or C++.
• Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS or Azure.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in growing and managing high-performing teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
