Overview
Marqeta is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel, Corporate to join our team. As a senior member of the Corporate Legal team, you will be responsible for owning core SEC reporting workstreams, driving corporate governance, and supporting the Board and its committees.
Responsibilities
- Own core SEC reporting workstreams, including drafting and reviewing periodic reports and registration statements
- Drive corporate governance, including advising on corporate governance best practices and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Support the Board and its committees, including preparing meeting materials and providing guidance on corporate governance matters
- Serve as the primary drafter of the company’s proxy statement and related disclosure materials
- Provide practical, actionable guidance to a fast-moving executive team on complex legal obligations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, accounting, and investor relations
Requirements
- Significant experience in public company securities and governance work, with a strong focus on SEC reporting and compliance
- Strong instincts about what boards and investors care about, with the ability to translate complex legal obligations into practical guidance
- Excellent drafting and writing skills, with the ability to craft clear and concise disclosure materials
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex legal and regulatory issues
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
