DevOps Engineer – Core Platform Engineering

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with development teams to integrate infrastructure and deployment pipelines into the SDLC.
- Build and set up new CI/CD tools and pipelines for application builds and releases.
- Ensure development teams follow established processes and best practices.
- Enhance applications for better observability, telemetry, and resilience.
- Write high-quality, reusable scripts, templates, and manifests.
- Drive a DevOps culture and promote lean software development within the organization.
- Contribute to key strategic decisions impacting the application lifecycle, including BCM, DR, HA, and Data Governance.
Your Team:
You’ll join a high-performing team responsible for supporting Core Platform Engineering services, helping to improve productivity for our engineers. Specifically, you’ll support our new Internal Developer Portal (IDP), built on Backstage, to enhance the developer experience and integrate with UBS’s development ecosystem. You’ll work closely with AKS, PostgreSQL, Unix, and more, driving DevOps culture and contributing to automation, patterns, and practices.
Your Expertise:
- Strong experience with DevOps tools for code build, version control, testing, and deployment.
- Proficient in the Software Delivery Lifecycle or Service Management.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or ARM.
- Proven experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for highly available applications.
- Proficient in scripting or coding with Python, Shell, PowerShell, Go, or JavaScript/Typescript.
- Solid working knowledge of cloud technologies, especially Azure and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Unix, containerization, and orchestration.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like AppDynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, and Azure App Insights.
- Knowledge of Internal Developer Portals like Backstage or MKDocs is a plus.
- Experience with incident and change management is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- A university degree in Computer Science or related fields is a plus.
